Small Business as a Home Based Business
Home Biz FNQ group was formed in December 2007 to create an informal alliance of 'like minded' people to discuss
small business issues specific to home based business operation. As such many are sole operators and do not have employees.
The Home Biz FNQ group provides a peer support network for small business who operate from a home based business.
This forum provides mutual professional support through the sharing of knowledge, expertise, ideas, challenges, and successes.
A variety of relevant professional development activities and presentations specific to home based operation are conducted that
are considered to be beneficial to members.
Purpose
To provide a non-threatening environment for like minded home based business people to share challenges and rewards
and to increase knowledge and understanding as required for home based business.
Criteria for Membership
Membership is free (other than the sharing of agreed costs). To maintain the purpose and integrity of the group all members must meet the
following criteria:
- Deemed under council regulations as a 'Home Based Business' or 'Home Activity' by operating from their place of residence
- Does not operate from a shop-front or other business premises
- Are not a franchise owner
- Have less than 2 equivalent full time employees operating from the home based business premise

Meetings
A meeting is held once every 6 or 7 weeks. Topics are chosen by the group and guest speakers are
invited to address common concerns or interests as required.
Members volunteer to host meetings at their own home business residence. Volunteers are also sourced from
the group to chair meetings, record minutes and undertake other tasks.
Specific details from the meetings, common interests and issues, discussion forums and findings
are posted on the Members Area section of this website.
Home business operators interested in joining may attend a meeting on invitation from a member as a guest prior to applying.

Ongoing Support
This self formed network group is more than just periodic meetings. Support is available at all times,
not just at meetings. Members are encouraged to share their challenges and rewards with other members
and the group at any time. Items of common interest are posted on the Members Area for the benefit of all members.
Expenses
Members may be required to contribute small amounts to cover certain costs. These are agreed upon at meetings
as required.
Currently members have agreed to a $50 annual contribution (commencing 1st July) for the service of the Home Biz FNQ website.
Members who have paid their contribution will receive a business listing and access to the Members Area of this website.
